CHIMNEY ROCK, N.C. — Repairs have been completed at Chimney Rock State Park, where Tropical Storm Fay's heavy rains damaged roads.

Chminey Rock, in Rutherford County, had been closed since Sept. 2, when crews began emergency repairs. Downpours had weakened a retaining wall along the park's 3-mile entrance road.

A record 11 inches of rain fell at the park over 48 hours while Fay passed.

Food service has resumed at the Sky Lounge, where a small mudslide had severed a sewer line.
