Children's book collection for hurricane victims wraps up Sunday
Hundreds of books, so far, have been donated to help the kids in the areas affected by the storm.

A book drive to collect children's books for victims of Hurricane Matthew will wrap up on Sunday.
Since the devastating storm hit in late September, the N.C. Museum of Art, the N.C. Museum of History, the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences and the North Carolina State Capitol Historic Site have served as drop off locations for children's books. The books are being delivered to shelters, schools and public libraries.
Hundreds of books, so far, have been donated to help the kids in the areas affected by the storm. The effort is led by the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, in partnership with the North State Journal and Waste Industries.
Until Sunday, new or gently used books may be dropped off at these locations:
- North Carolina Museum of Art, 2110 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh;
- North Carolina Museum of History, 5 E. Edenton St., Raleigh;
- North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, 11 W. Jones St., Raleigh; and
- North Carolina State Capitol Historic Site, 1 E. Edenton St., Raleigh.
The books will be sent to these counties in eastern North Carolina: Beaufort, Bertie, Bladen, Columbus, Cumberland, Edgecombe, Gates, Greene, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Jones, Lenoir, Nash, Pitt, Robeson, Sampson, Wayne and Wilson.
