Children charged with setting fire to Rocky Mount house

Posted April 28, 2010

— Two 10-year-olds and a 9-year-old were charged with setting a house on fire in Rocky Mount Monday evening, police said.

Police said that neighbors saw the children running from the burning house at 1917 Waltrip St. around 7:45 p.m. Investigators determined that the children set a fire with matches and burned a door, wall frame and floor of the home, police said.

No one was injured.

The children were charged as juveniles with burning an unoccupied dwelling and released into the custody of their parents.

I'm with you Curious. My momma would have "burnt" my tail up!! Kids need something constructive and responsible to do so they can stay out of trouble.......

If I'd done something like this, my parents would have set my backside on fire. That was another time.

Even children have to be held accountable for their actions if we want them to grow up responsibly. Keeping them busy with chores will keep them out of trouble.

glad no one was hurt..the children and their parents need to pay all damage to the house...they will have a clean record when they turn 18 unless they get into more trouble...
