— A 10-year-old boy suffered serious injuries Tuesday evening after he was hit by a car at Foxhall Village and Buffaloe roads.

A group of kids were crossing the street when the child was hit by an Oldsmobile Intrigue, authorities said. The boy was transported to WakeMed.

The driver of the vehicle was cited for driving without a license, authorities said.

The names of the driver and the child were not immediately available.

    Just an honest question....

Driving without a license...could that be someone was driving and didn't have their license on them? Or would that be considered something else? The charge wasn't driving while license revoked, which is what the charge would be if someone had lost their license. It's also not a citation. You get arrested when you're DWLR.

I'm curious about the statute on this one. I could look it up, but I was wondering if someone who reads the comments might possibly know.

I do hope this boy recovers. How scary for everyone involved.

This guy should not have been driving. BUT, please teach your kids to always look both ways BEFORE they try crossing a roadway.

My thoughts go out to the family of this 10 year old boy. I wish there were more information on this. The driver of the vehicle was cited for driving without a license doesn't give us all the information of what happened. Hopefully more will come out and we can get a clearer picture of what happened. Until then it's only speculation beyond the fact that a boy was hit and seriously hurt by someone without a license.

"They" is pretty much a common, acceptable alternative to "he or she" when the gender is unknown.

What I see get mis-used more often than anything else is "myself".

Prayers for the child. Plsu, I hav eto laugh to people who think that parents should know EVERYTHING there child is doing. A grew up with very strict parents, and what they did not knwo that I did would make them spin in their graves. Such as crossing busy roads on my bike where I was forbidden to go. So everybody cut down on the sanctimony and pray for the hurt child.

This is more about parents having no care to what their kids are doing. I live near where this happened and there are kids in groups running across busy streets all the time and I wonder happy many pedestrians (children at that) will be hit before people realize they need to use crosswalks and not cross busy streets.

Everyone is saying "they" so they (!) don't have to use the abominable "he/she/it", nor make an assumption about the gender of the driver. It's a valid usage.

Could have been expired, but based on what we were told the driver was without one, not without a valid one. And it wasn't the next driver, it was the one that shouldn't have been behind the wheel. As for the oblivious to expiration theory, that's part of the priviledge (not right) to have a drivers license. I'd bet anyone even money that's not the case and I' also bet the license wasn't the only legal documentation this person was missing. Proof of insurance, license, etc. I might be wrong but I'd have to lose that bet

And there is most likely a good reason the driver didn't have a licenses, and now a reason they should never have one.....REBELYELL55

there was likely a good reason that the person didn't have a license, but because they hit a child who was crossing an unsafe road, they should never have a license in the future?....RESCUEFAN

NO matter the reason the driver had no license, they shouldn't have been driving.
    B. It should be a looooong time before they're able to get one, if ever....HANS

The person who hit the kid didn't have a license. Why were they driving?...DOSEOFREALITY88

Where does this reoccurring word "THEY" keep coming from. They cannot drive. "HE" or "SHE" can be driving, but "THEY" cannot.

No drivers license? Well I guess that tells us they are an American citizen, because as we know all illegals have drivers licenses, because the left wants them to hawev them but they dont want to show them to vote
