CLAYTON, N.C. — A 12-year-old boy was hit and killed by a car in Clayton Monday afternoon, authorities said.

According to investigators, Gerardo Galvan was hit at about 4 p.m. when running across South Lombard Street. The boy was with a friend near the Alta Mobile Home Park when a woman driving southbound in a Buick struck him, investigators said. The friend was not injured.

LaMonica Brinkley said she knew right away things were bad when her son ran inside.

"Jahquawn comes to the back door all torn to pieces, flapping his arms, saying 'Mom, please come help me,'" Brinkley said. "I just feel so bad for his family...especially his mother. Seeing her torn to pieces, seeing her baby laying there and not being able to do anything."

Authorities attempted CPR, but their attempts were unsuccessful.

No charges are expected to be filed.

No additional information was immediately available.
