— The top doctor for the state's Medicaid program is stepping down for another job within the Department of Health and Human Services.

Dr. Randall Best has been medical director for the Division of Medical Assistance since October 2010. He was hired by then-DHHS Secretary Lanier Cansler under Gov. Bev Perdue.

In an email to WRAL News Tuesday afternoon, DHHS Director of Communications Ricky Diaz confirmed Best will take a lower-profile position as the director of physician services at the Murdoch Developmental Center in Butner at the end of the month. The 500-bed psychiatric hospital provides residential care for patients with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Diaz declined to provide more details on the departure.

Can I apply for Dr Best's job ? I'll make some kind of an amount of donation to McCrory campaign, plus I don't think I have enough experience, but that won't matter, the DHHS hires those not experienced.

It will take a generation to repair the damage being done to state systems now being overrun by political demands
