Posted June 16, 2013

— Authorities closed Beryl Road in Raleigh on Sunday while they investigated a fire at a metal-coating business.

Raleigh firefighters said plastic containers containing chemicals caught fire in a warehouse belonging to Surtronics Inc. in the 4000 block of Beryl Road. The company website says it specializes in electroplating and anodizing.

Hazardous materials crews were called to scene as smoke drifted through the area about 3:45 p.m.

Information on how the fire began or the extent of the damage was not immediately available.
