Orange globes are getting bigger in pumpkin patches across the region. Farmers are making paths through their corn fields. And lots of hay bales are getting stacked up.
It's pumpkin patch, corn maze and fall fun season, probably the busiest time of the year over here at Go Ask Mom headquarters. And we're all ready with a database of more than 100 pumpkin patches, corn mazes, haunted houses and fall and Halloween events for your perusal. Many begin opening up over the next couple of weeks for school groups, field trips and family visits.
A few sites are still firming up their schedules so expect the list to be updated over the next few weeks. I'll also add to it too. Email me if you have an addition or question.
And a note on Halloween in anticipation of the emails I get around this time of year. Oct. 31 falls on a Thursday this year and the vast majority of towns, cities and communities around here will expect that kids dress up and go out for candy on that day (though most don't guide what day people celebrate Halloween). Some do set recommended hours - typically between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
In mid-October, I'll have a post with more information from about three dozen communities. I expect that this year's post won't be much different from last year's post, which you can find by clicking here.
