So many American Girl fans are lining up to go to the brand's new store in Charlotte that reservations in its Bistro are booked, on the weekends, through at least mid-December.

I'll be chatting about all things American Girl on my Fox 50 morning news segment on Wednesday. I'll be on a little after 8:30 a.m. The popular brand features dolls with books, which tell stories from different historical periods and from contemporary life. The dolls generally cost more than $100.

The store at Charlotte's SouthPark mall will begin holding free and paid annual events starting in January. There also will be special occasions and holiday events, along with excursion opportunities to arts and entertainment venues in Charlotte, I'm told. Events will include things like crafts; mom and me days; and tips for caring for the dolls.

While the store's Bistro, which serves lunch, dinner, dessert and tea, is booked solid through at least Dec. 13 on the weekends, there are open slots during the week. Starting on Oct. 27, the Bistro will offer an Afternoon Tea and Craft on weekdays from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. It's $12 per person.

If the nearly three hour drive to Charlotte is a little too far to go for you, I'll talk a bit on Wednesday about Meredith College's current American Girl photography exhibition.
