— A Midland man is accused of raping a 19-year-old disabled woman, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Michael William Hess, 52, of 1050 Alvin Hough Road, was charged with felony second-degree rape, three counts of felony second-degree sex offense and a misdemeanor count of sexual battery.

He was in the Chatham County jail Friday under a $300,000 secured bond and has a court appearance scheduled for July 7.

Investigators said the woman, who has both physical and mental disabilities, was assaulted over the course of a year.

This man took full advantage of this lady. He should get full consequences for his actions. Where was her family? Why did the family trust him to be aroudn her so much? I agree with MGARMER1....why did it take a year to discover what he was doing to her? I agree, a year, this certainly could have been stopped. Now I believe he deserves at least 30 years in prison. Maybe she would be better off in a Nursing home.

How do they know it was over a course of a year? If they knew should they not have stopped him? If she just told him why is it that she never said anything before?

Regardless I think it is a crime for someone to have sex with a mentally handicapped person without first getting legal permission.
