PITTSBORO, N.C. — Equipment issues caused problems with Chatham County's 911 system for about an hour Thursday morning, a county spokeswoman said.

The equipment problems affected phone lines and caused some 911 callers to get a busy signal, spokeswoman Debra Henzey said. Residents were given an alternate number (919-542-2811) to call for emergencies.

Henzey said that repairs have been completed, and residents should be able to 911 as usual.
