Chatham Co. man arrested for assault on friend

Deputies arrested Eric Brennen Ewing, 20, of 3060 Lystra Road, and charged him with felonious assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chatham County deputies arrested a man Thursday for an assault on a friend.

Eric Rabello, of 1364 Farrington Road, told authorities that several men jumped him and struck him with a baseball bat. Rabello was taken to UNC Hospitals where he was diagnosed with a fractured skull.

Deputies arrested Eric Brennen Ewing, 20, of 3060 Lystra Road, and charged him with felonious assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Ewing was taken to jail where he was held on $125,000 secured bond.

Authorities said the case was still under investigation.
