Charter school sues state

Posted June 3, 2008

— A Raleigh charter school has filed a racial discrimination suit against the state.

Sparc Academy is accusing the state Board of Education of "deliberately and knowingly" conspiring to close black charter schools.

The board cited poor test scores and the lack of certified teachers when it decided earlier this year not to renew the charter for the school.

The school insists it corrected certification problems.

Sparc Academy’s charter expires at the end of the month.

Hey, great! Can anybody tell me the name of the WHITE Charter School? I'd like to review the test scores and certification.

There should be no "BLACK" charter schools funded through our tax dollars. Just like there should be no "WHITE", "ASIAN", or "HISPANIC" charter schools! Isn't this what the civil rights movement was about...de-segregation?!?

Did they stop and think there are guidlines and deadlines to meet the requirments. I guess they have to play the race card instead of playing by the rules like everyone else. Everyone wants things to be equal until they cant get it and then it racial. What a shame!
