Show me a charter with a successful track record, and I'll show you a charter school with students who do not reflect the general population.

This does not pertain to this subject directly.
However, I was talking to my daughter yesterday. My 13 year old Granddaughter went back to school yesterday. Monday was off for MLK day and Tuesday and Wed. schools in Pitt County were closed for 2 teacher work days. Schools were just closed for 2 weeks at Christmas. Could the system not call the teachers in for 2 days during that period for the work days, just doesn't seem to be an effective way to use time. Kids are back in school for 2 weeks then another 3 days off. Don't want to hear the excuse the teachers had time off with their families all of us have to make arrangements during the holidays with our jobs for time off!

The public education model is not failing- its parents who expect the scholls to baby sit and teach their kids while they drive around in their big suvs! Take responsibility parents! You should be reviewing homework with your kids.

Charter schools... because children deserve to have choices beyond the failing public education model.

More shell game antics. The elite's kid can attend, yours can not. The Charter kids get a serious curriculum, yours do not.

ITSMEBABY-this might be for only schools located in Wake County. However, your child does not have to attend a charter school in their own county. You can live anywhere in NC and attend any NC charter school.

SIMPLY HANS--I can't speak for "most" charter schools, but ours has been very good. My sons have learned more in charter school this year than they learned in the last two years of their assigned public school. Picking the right one is crucial, though.

Says the raging liberal who thinks government run education is good for us.

Is this for Wake Co. Schools only?

My daughter goes to Henderson Collegiate, and is doing 10th grade level work while in the 7th grade.
