CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man who has upset his neighbors by standing naked at his front door says he's the one who should be mad because his privacy has been violated.

Gerald Leeper says he's not a threat to the Cardinal Glen neighborhood.

"They should know me because I got nothing but love inside of me for anybody," Leeper told WBTV-TV, "Nothing but love, and they should know it. They should know it."

Neighbors who live on Osage Circle say they've had enough of seeing Leeper naked. They say he stands at his door several times a week, and he has been doing it for years.

Leeper says neighbors have been on a witch hunt.

"We have to practice serenity in this world. The world wants everyone to understand serenity, rationalism, being reasonable," he said. "I will not stand outside my door naked, and no one has a picture of me standing outside my door naked. What they have is a picture of intrusion by seclusion."

Neighbors and Leeper attended a meeting with police on Monday night, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Capt. Rod Golding said criminal prosecution is an option.

Golding says that Leeper will be arrested if he intentionally displays himself again so that a neighbor in a public place can see him.

Neighbors want Leeper to get counseling, but he is convinced that they are in the wrong.

"The picture is not on the front porch. It's inside, in my home," he said.
