— A Charlotte man who has upset his neighbors by standing naked at his front door says he's the one who should be mad because his privacy has been violated.

Gerald Leeper says he's not a threat to the Cardinal Glen neighborhood.

"They should know me because I got nothing but love inside of me for anybody," Leeper told WBTV-TV, "Nothing but love, and they should know it. They should know it."

Neighbors who live on Osage Circle say they've had enough of seeing Leeper naked. They say he stands at his door several times a week, and he has been doing it for years.

Leeper says neighbors have been on a witch hunt.

"We have to practice serenity in this world. The world wants everyone to understand serenity, rationalism, being reasonable," he said. "I will not stand outside my door naked, and no one has a picture of me standing outside my door naked. What they have is a picture of intrusion by seclusion."

Neighbors and Leeper attended a meeting with police on Monday night, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Capt. Rod Golding said criminal prosecution is an option.

Golding says that Leeper will be arrested if he intentionally displays himself again so that a neighbor in a public place can see him.

Neighbors want Leeper to get counseling, but he is convinced that they are in the wrong.

"The picture is not on the front porch. It's inside, in my home," he said.

And HE SHOULD KNOW that people CAN'T SEE THE LOVE INSIDE JUST BECAUSE HE'S NAKED!!!! Maybe he can show his "love"without showing everything else...that's what's upsetting your neighbors!!

Here is my thoughts. If you have all your doors closed and window shades drawn, then you are in the privacy of your home and can run around commando all you want, If you stand naked in your doorway for everyone to see, then you are in the public and that is indecent exposure. Simple as that.

As I've said before, this could all be solved amicably by him getting a door with an opaque bottom half. He could stand there and look out all day long, naked as a jaybird, and no one could see him but he would still be 'free' :-) problem solved, not hard

You don't have to look INTO his home to see his junk... you only have to look AT his home. And that is exactly what this pervert intends.

A mean, but legal solution would be to gather a group, especially of women, to stand outside that man's property when he's displaying his birthday suit at the door, and chide, laugh, and otherwise comment on his features. If, however, he is mentally or emotionally damaged, that's a horrible idea. But if he were just an average, though arrogant, Joe puttin it out there on any street where I lived, there'd be a group of rude ladies happily critiquing the view. Bet he'd go inside.

If someone was actually looking into his home to "get the view", that's a peeping-tom, but based on the image shown with the story, this dude's standing in front of his front door. Definitely not a peeping-tom situation.

My two cents' worth: it looks like he lives in a subdivision. I'll bet there are rules homeowners have to follow within this subdivision. Why don't they just make a rule to make what he's doing against the rules so they can fine him (huge amounts) or have him arrested?

    To play devils advocate.........
Isn't looking into someone's home illegal? kinda like a "peeping Tom"? I'm not saying that what he is doing is morally right but he does have a right to privacy within his own home. I say he should just keep the door shut. Seems like it could be a very interesting court case regarding individual rights.
