After West Virginia dominated the news with a horrific chemical spill into its water supply that left thousands of people without water for days, it's Charlotte's turn. Fortunately, this spill isn't as catastrophic: it appears that ethanol was allowed to flow into a sewage treatment plant (as opposed to the drinking water supply) and that it may have contaminated several nearby waterways, which are awaiting testing.
Spills like these are a concern for Charlotte plumbers and others worried about water quality, as they can be costly and time-consuming to clean up, in addition to being dangerous for residents. For now, residents are advised to avoid Mallard Creek, Little Sugar Creek, and Rocky River until these waterways can be fully assessed for safety.
