RALEIGH, N.C. — Police have filed a new charge against a Raleigh man in a crash last week that killed a passenger in his car.

Morris Lee Wilks II, 20, of 100 Farrington Dive, Apt. F, was charged Wednesday with felony death by vehicle. He was initially charged with driving while impaired, reckless driving and a provisional license violation.

The charges stem from a crash last Friday morning on Mount Vernon Church Road. Authorities said Wilks' 2007 Toyota ran off the road and hit a tree and a rock wall.

Simon Peter Curran, 21, of Raleigh, was killed in the crash. Wilks and another passenger, Marquian Javon Sanders, 19, of Raleigh, suffered minor injuries.
