Goldsboro, N.C. — A Goldsboro woman faces animal cruelty charges in connection with neglected horses at a stable that was recently closed.
Andrea Pendergrass, of 1118 Saulston Road, was charged Thursday with five misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals.
A rescue group recently removed some horses at Avalon Stables. The horses belong to the U.S. Equine Rescue League, but the stable was caring for them.
Wayne County Animal Control closed the stable because the horses' health and maintenance became a concern.
