Chappelle-Nadal removed from committee assignments

ST. LOUIS, MO — Sen. Maria Chappelle-Nadal has been removed from her committee assignments.
Chappelle-Nadal's removal from committee assignments comes less than a week after the Missouri State Senator from University City posted a comment on Facebook hoping for President Donald J. Trump's assassination. After posting and deleting the comment from her personal Facebook page, in which she wrote "I hope Trump is assassinated," the secret service said they were investigating.
Senate Democratic Caucus leader Sen. Gina Walsh issued the following statement regarding Chappelle-Nadal's committee assignment removal Tuesday:
"It is important that the Missouri Senate conducts their work without distractions. With that in mind, Sen. Chappelle-Nadal has been removed from her committee assignments. This will help to ensure the success of the Senate, and the state, going forward."
In a press conference Sunday, Chappelle-Nadal apologized to Missouri residents, her Statehouse colleagues and President Trump but said she has no plans to resign over the "mistake."
