Chapel Hill Teen Week starts today
Starting today, the town will offer a variety of events - from a cafe and trivia night to an a cappella sing off - for teens.
Posted — UpdatedChapel Hill is celebrating teens this week with the first Chapel Hill Teen Week. Starting today, the town will offer a variety of events - from a cafe and trivia night to an a cappella sing off - for teens.
The Chapel Hill Youth Council, Youth Community Project and Street Scene Teen Center are the week's organizers. They aim to celebrate youth identity, youth voices and youth-driven activities, according to a press release.
Teens who participate in one or more event will get free raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes including UNC-Chapel Hill gear, gift cards to local restaurants and a private shopping experience at Bevello for themselves and up to 10 friends.
It all takes place at the Street Scene Teen Center, which is under the post office at 179 E. Franklin St. All events start at 6:30 p.m. Here's the schedule:
Friday: Improv Comedy Night
It wraps up at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, with Youth Fest on the Wallace Plaza on Rosemary Street behind Street Scene. The festival includes performances by the Emerging Artists Series, Sacrificial Poets, UNC Wordsmiths, and the Dominant Young Souls Dance Group, according to the release.
