— Chapel Hill police asked for the public's help Friday to locate a man wanted for taking a bicycle worth about $5,000 from a shop at University Mall.

Investigators said the man took the Orbea Ordu bicycle, which is black with red accents, from TrySports on April 26.

Anyone with information about the theft should call the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2883 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.

They should be able to find him pretty easily with those photos. I can't stand thieves.

Ha! My "cheap" bike was $1600. Depending on your needs, bikes can get pretty pricey. If it's a hobby (or job) that you enjoy, it's easy to justify the expense.

Not to you maybe. But some cost that much.

I totally agree with Zoso62, It's a "Kool" bike, but $5000.00? Thats a lot of bus fare, and the price of a decent car.
Would probably make a neat decorative addition on a bike rack attached to the back of a quarter million dollar motorhome.

Market demand determines what a bike is worth, and some people will pay that for high performance competition bicycles. Others will apparently risk stealing them. I personally prefer my 30 year old Trek that I bought for $150 used in the 1980s, although I've spent three times that in updates to it over the years. People have tried to steal it but never succeeded thanks to my locks.

He's incognito and will not be found. Nice wheels though, it cost so much because its carbon fiber and a lot of man power went into its build.

Something seems odd here. The store photo bike doesn't appear to be black with red accents. Also the bar connecting the back wheel to the frame connects directly to the horizontal bar underneath the seat. In the sample photo bar connecting the back wheel connect much further down below the horizontal bar. Did the theif steal a cheaper bike but the store is reporting it as a $5000 bike. They look totally different, just saying. Catch this theif in any case.

Someone who knows bikes. Someone who had a buyer for the said bike or is going to use it themselves.
