Chapel Hill police seek suspect in apartment robbery

Chapel Hill police are asking for help in identifying the suspect in a robbery at Sunstone Apartments Saturday morning.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill police are asking for help in identifying the suspect in a robbery at Sunstone Apartments on Saturday morning.

A woman told police that a man knocked on her door, displayed a handgun and took cash and a ring made of white gold with topaz and diamonds.

She described the suspect as a black man with light complexion and light eyes who was tall and thin. She said he was wearing a black-and-white checked bandanna, a black baseball cap, black coat with orange lining and black jeans with the letter "R" stitched on the back pocket.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515. Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
