Chapel Hill police seek help solving robbery

Chapel Hill police are asking for the public's help to identify a man caught on surveillance cameras robbing a convenience store early Wednesday.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill police are asking for the public's help to identify a man caught on surveillance cameras robbing a convenience store early Wednesday.

Police said the man entered the Kangaroo Express store at 1501 E. Franklin St. around 3:45 a.m. and asked the clerk for change for a dollar. When the clerk opened the register, the man reached into it and grabbed four $5 bills.

He ran from the scene in the direction of the Siena Hotel.

If anyone has information about the thief's identity, please call either the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515. Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward up to $2,000 for information that leads to arrest.
