CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill police said Sunday that a 90-year-old man who went missing from a retirement community Saturday morning may have left the facility in a vehicle.

The North Carolina Center for Missing Persons issued a Silver Alert for Richard Leslie Silva at about 12:40 a.m. Saturday after he went missing from the Carol Woods Retirement Community in the 700 block of Weaver Dairy Road.

Authorities said Sunday that because of his condition, Silva may have left the community in a vehicle. It's unclear where Silva may be headed.

Silva is white, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 165 pounds. He has short gray hair and blue eyes. He wears dark, wife-framed glasses and has a walker that has a yellow ribbon tied to it.

When he disappeared, Silva was wearing a dark blue shirt, khaki pants and brown leather shoes.

Anyone with information about Silva's whereabouts should call the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-732-5063.
