CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill officials are investigating the death of a man injured in a fight at a construction site, but it’s not clear whether the two are connected.

Chapel Hill Police were called to 602 Martin Luther King Blvd. about the altercation at 7:20 a.m. Tuesday, but once they arrived, the fight was over.

According to Lt. Josh Mecimore, one of the men in the fight was complaining about a pain in his leg. That man, whose name police did not released, was taken to the hospital where he died later that day.

Mecimore said there was no indication that the man’s injuries were life-threatening or whether his death was related to the fight.

Officials are waiting to hear back from medical examiners about the man’s cause of death before they decide whether to investigate the case as a homicide.
