Chapel Hill police investigate assault

A man told police he remembers playing pool in a local bar on the evening of Feb. 20. The victim is being treated at UNC Hospitals for a fractured skull.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Chapel Hill police are investigating an apparent assault on West Franklin Street.

A man who is being treated at UNC Hospitals for a fractured skull told police he remembered playing pool in a local bar on the evening of Feb. 20 but not how he got hurt.

Police ask that anyone who might have seen an incident that could have resulted in such an injury call either the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 or Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.

Calls to Crime Stoppers are confidential and anonymous, and the caller may be eligible for a cash reward up to $1,200 for information that leads to arrest.
