The new playground at Umstead Park in Chapel Hill will open at noon, Saturday.
The park's play area was damaged by flood waters in June. The town removed the play area, restored the site and placed the new equipment out of the flood plain, according to a town newsletter. The playground now sits next to the picnic shelter and restrooms.
In an email on Thursday, Bill Webster, park planning and development manager, cautioned people to not use the playground until the fencing is removed.
"The rubber like poured-in-place safety surface must cure ... until mid-day Saturday," he wrote. "Premature use could damage and shorten the life of the safety surface."
The park sits at 399 Umstead Dr. in Chapel Hill.
