The Chapel Hill Public Library, now in much newer and bigger digs after a renovation and expansion project, is expanding its weekend hours, which means it now can offer some special weekend programming.

Starting Saturday, the new weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays, and noon to 6 p.m., Sundays. Here are some of the events scheduled at the library in September:

  • Family Story Time, Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.
  • Puppets with Pat, Sunday, Sept. 15, from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Rhythm & Rhyme Time, Sunday, Sept. 22, from 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • LEGO Club Kickoff, Sunday, Sept. 29, from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
  • Fancy Nancy Tea Party, Monday, Sept. 30, from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

The library also will have Baby Time every Friday and Toddler Time every Wednesday and Thursday. For the full calendar, click here.

Also ... the library is collecting LEGO bricks for its LEGO Club. If you have unused LEGO bricks in a box somewhere, they'd love to have them. You can contact the library at 919-968-2778.

The library is at 100 Library Dr. in Chapel HIll.
