Chapel Hill botanical garden plans family festival

The N.C. Botanical Garden in Chapel Hill will host its Magic in the Garden festival for families later this month.

The event is set for 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sept. 23, and is designed for kids ages 4 to 10 with an accompanying adult. Admission is $10 per child. It's free for adults.

The event includes an afternoon of hands-on nature activities in the Children’s Wonder Garden, including gnome home building and information about carnivorous plants, seeds that fly and caterpillars. There also will be nature-themed crafts and more. Participants are invited to come dressed as their favorite plant or animal.
