Walmart is making changes to the Savings Catcher program as of February 1, 2018, but some of them are effective right now. Read on for the details.

Walmart sent out an e-mail to Savings Catcher members on 12/5 indicating that the following changes would be occurring with the program:

"At Walmart, we're committed to helping you make the most of your Savings Catcher rewards, in a hassle-free way.

Starting February 1, 2018, the Savings Catcher program will undergo the following changes:

* Your rewards will automatically be transferred to your Savings Catcher eGift card each time they're earned. No need to manually redeem your rewards.

* Your Savings Catcher eGift card will be automatically saved to your Walmart.com account for you, so you will no longer receive emails with your Savings Catcher eGift card bar code.

* The ability to transfer rewards to a Bluebird card will be discontinued.

* Walmart Pay will become the preferred way to spend your Savings Catcher rewards in-store. Additionally, you will continue to be able to spend your rewards on Walmart.com.

* You don't have to immediately spend your rewards when they're transferred to your eGift card. You can choose to accumulate them as desired.

But you don't have to wait for February 1 to take advantage of this improved experience! You can start auto-redeeming your Savings Catcher rewards to Walmart Pay now by selecting Auto-Redeem to Walmart Pay in the Savings Catcher app."

What is Savings Catcher?

If you are not familiar with Savings Catcher, it is a Walmart price matching program. If a local competitor offers a lower advertised price on an item you purchased at Walmart, the Savings Catcher program allows you to get back the difference on a Walmart Rewards eGift Card. You basically get a rebate for the price match.

To get the price match rebate, you must submit your receipt to the Savings Catcher. There are 2 ways to submit receipts:

1. Enter the receipt number (the TC number) into Savings Catcher at savingscatcher.walmart.com or in the Walmart Android or iPhone app. You’ll find this number located near the bottom of your printed Walmart store receipt.

2. Scan the code at the bottom of your printed store receipt, using the scanner in the Savings Catcher section of the Walmart app.

Once you submit your receipt, Savings Catcher compares the prices of the products you bought at Walmart to the sale prices found in the competitor ads for your area. The ads must be valid at the time you made your Walmart purchase.

If Savings Catcher finds an advertised lower price, you’ll get back the difference on a Walmart Rewards eGift Card!

You will get your price match results within 72 hours of submitting your receipt. They will send the results via email or through the Walmart app.

Additional Details:

* Submit up to 7 receipts per week to Savings Catcher.

* Save up to $599.99 per year with this program.
