Celebrate Earth Day with a free bus ride

Posted April 16, 2013

In observance of Earth Day, Capital Area Transit will offer free rides on Saturday.

Regular and hybrid buses also will take people to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh for the Earth Day celebration. Transit officials said they hope the fare-free day will encourage more residents to ride buses for the first time.

CAT buses save over $1 million per year in pollution from vehicle emissions and also relieves commuter traffic from Raleigh roads, officials said. The system is on track to carry about 6.5 million riders this year.
