Fayetteville, N.C. — A Fayetteville firefighter was hurt late Sunday when a ceiling collapsed during a house fire, authorities said.
The firefighter, whose name was not released, was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Battalion Chief Robert Brinson of the Fayetteville Fire/Emergency Management Department.
Brinson said firefighters went to a vacant, one-story house at the intersection of Raeford Road and Rim Road about 11:30 p.m. and found heavy smoke that quickly turned to flames. Fire consumed about 75 percent of the home.
The injured firefighter was inside when the ceiling collapsed. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
