DURHAM, N.C. — Ana Maria Bonell, Capital Broadcasting Company's Latino Marketing Specialist, was awarded Friday for her dedication to the growth of the Hispanic community.

Bonell started working at CBC in 2013 to take on the role of supporting the Triangle's Hispanic community with individualized news and events coverage, including educational and entertaining opportunities for the community like job fairs and festivals. The community can access these resources on the Noticias page on WRAL.com and through television airings on FOX50.

During Friday's sixth annual Hispanic Market Advantage Conference Awards luncheon at the Hilton Hotel located near Duke University, Bonell received the Brillante Award, meant to recognize companies and individuals making the most difference in and around the Hispanic community. Each year, the award is presented to an individual who promotes community assimilation, recognizing the importance of collaborations and joint ventures that benefit the community at-large.

"It is an honor to recognize you as a strong supporter of the Hispanic/Latino community," said an officials at the awards luncheon to Bonell. "We know you realize the important role Hispanics play in North Carolina’s future success. Recognizing Hispanics comprise an essential part of the workforce is necessary to maintain and improve the state’s economy. We are excited about the opportunity to present you with this award and the experience that lies ahead."
