Cause of death released for man who attacked officers with sword

KENNEWICK, Wash. — The man killed during an officer-involved shooting on Sunday died of multiple gunshots to the torso, according to the Benton County Coroner's Office.
Hussein Hassan, 46, attacked police with a sword near the corner of 10th and Olympia. He struck one officer in the head with the sword before getting shot. The wound was not life-threatening.
Officers Joshua Kuhn and Jason Kiel, who each have more than a decade of law enforcement experience, were the ones who shot at the suspect.
Benton County Coroner's Office is waiting for toxicology results, which could take up to eight weeks to obtain.
