Cat in the Hat stops at Northgate Mall Saturday

The Cat in the Hat will stop by Northgate Mall on Saturday for stories, singing and dancing.

The Cat in the Hat will stop by Northgate Mall on Saturday for stories, singing and dancing.

Long-time educator Terri Morley will come dressed as the favorite Dr. Seuss character for free shows at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., Saturday, at the Durham mall's Center Court. March 2 is Dr. Seuss' birthday and the annual National Read Across America Day.

The shows include excerpts from several of Dr. Seuss' stories along with a reading of "Horton Hears a Who." Guests are encouraged to come dressed as the Cat in the Hat or another Seuss character and participate in a "Who" Parade of Characters. Afterwards, kids can visit with the Cat on stage. Bring your camera for pictures.

Also on Saturday, Stadium 10 Theaters at Northgate will screen "Cat in the Hat," a 30-minute animated film based on the book. The movies are at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., Saturday. Tickets are $1. 

Northgate Mall and Stadium 10 Theaters are located at 1058 West Club Boulevard in Durham.
