— A woman accused of castrating a man will face a new trial this summer.

Rebecca Dawson, 35, is accused of using her fingernails to tear off Kevin Russ' scrotum at a Christmas party in 2006.

Prosecutors said Russ, 39, and Dawson were drinking at the party and got into a fight.

In a trial last year, Russ said Dawson clawed his face and grabbed his scrotum when he was trying to keep her from driving home because she had had too much to drink.

The defense contended Dawson acted in self-defense because she was being held after Russ wanted her to have sex with him and his girlfriend.

Jurors told Superior Court Judge Steve Balog they were split eight to four – there was no word on whether the majority was for conviction or acquittal – and he declared a mistrial.

Prosecutors expect a new trial to take place in August.

In Wake County the victim would be charged. A woman making a claim of spousal abuse is always right and Colon Willoughby's prosecutors treat the mere claim as sacrosanct. She maimed this guy in the wrong county. If he had cut off one of her breasts he'd have been lynched.

Odd, isn't it, to see her defenders pretend women are incapable of doing such a thing? As one said "I can't imagine a woman intentionally killing someone with just her fingernails, much less unintentionally." Why? Why is it so hard to imagine a woman committing a violent act like murder? And yes, people do die from infections.

Since she ripped/tore a piece of his body off, she belongs in jail for a very long time. How long would he be in jail if he had cut off one of her breasts? She is little better than an uncontrollable rabid animal.

I wish I knew the details of this case. It's too intriguing.

He's trying to say she got to his scrotum while he was trying to stop her from driving? I think that's something people usually have their pants on for.

I don't agree with what she did, obviously, but I do believe her story about him wanting her to have sex with him and his girlfriend. Am I wrong to think he had to have had his pants down if she was able to get such a good grip on it?

"I know from experience that woman's nails can be deadly, even without intent."

Really? Did someone die from an infection? I can't imagine a woman intentionally killing someone with just her fingernails, much less unintentionally.

Well, since it was a crime perpetrated by a woman against a man,
she'll get off. People joking about this poor man either don't own
a set, or don't have a set. I know from experience that woman's
nails can be deadly, even without intent. I hope your business isn't spread in the news...or maybe I do...

How much more money and time is going to be wasted on this mess? Everybody was wasted and no one can tell a story that makes any sense. Drop it already!
