Raleigh, N.C. — It might sound like an endurance contest, but it is really all about the music.
Band Together NC holds its annual Last Band Standing fundraiser Saturday night at Lincoln Theatre in Raleigh.
Bands are competing for $3,000 in cash prizes and the winning band will get the opening act spot at Band Together's annual spring concert. Last year, Lyle Lovett headlined. No word on who will be playing this year.
The audience will be able to help vote on the winning band Saturday night.
Here's a list of who is competing:
Big Daddy Love - Appalachian rock, roots and grass
The Morning After - Eclectic Motown sound with bluegrass, soul, Latin and jazz
Jack the Radio - Groove-heavy, Southern-tinged rock
Onward, Soldiers - Indie rock
Bands are also competing for an extra $500 that will be awarded to the top vote-getting band online. See the Band Together website for more on the Facebook voting app.
Tickets are available online. They are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the show. There are also $75 VIP tickets, which include dinner and drinks.
All net proceeds from this event go to nonprofit partner Communities in Schools of Durham and Wake County.
