Cary woman who taped dog's mouth found guilty of animal cruelty

Posted June 3, 2016

— Katharine Lemansky, a Cary woman who posted a photo of her chocolate lab-mix with its mouth taped shut on Facebook, was found guilty Friday of animal cruelty.

Lemansky, whose Facebook page lists her name as Katie Brown, posted the photo that sparked social media backlash on Nov. 27. The photo was labeled with a South Daytona, Fla. location but authorities determined that the incident took place in Cary, where she was staying with the dog.

Lemansky was sentenced to 60 days in jail, which was reduced to 12 months of supervised probation. She was also ordered to pay $275 in court costs.

Take all animals out of her position. Ban her for ever owning an animal.

The dog obviously isn't happy in the picture. She should be ashamed but she isn't or she would have never have done this in the 1st place.

Really hope she doesn't have children.....

They should have duct tapes her mouth shut and posted a pic of it on social media. That would be a cheaper and more proper punishment. Lol!

Putting her on probation is a bizarre waste of resources.

She should not have been allowed to keep the dog in my opinion. Less than a slap on the wrist.
