A new movie about maternal mental health, which is winning some recognition on the film festival circuit, is headed to the Triangle.
"Dark Side of the Full Moon" will be screened at 7 p.m., March 27, at The Cary Theater in Cary. The new documentary explores the world of maternal mental health and includes interviews with survivors, family members, psychologists, doctors, researchers and scholars, according to a description.
The Triangle screening is a fundraiser for Postpartum Education and Support, a local group that has helped countless moms dealing with postpartum depression and other perinatal mood disorders. According to the group, the film features several Triangle area mothers and professionals.
Tickets for the March 27 screening will go on sale on Wednesday. You can watch the trailer here (where UNC Hospitals and its Center for Women's Mood Disorders plays prominently).
If you know a mom who is struggling with depression or other mood disorders after the birth of her child or if you are struggling after the birth or your child, I encourage you to contact your doctor, Pospartum Education and Support and the UNC center. There is help out there.
