Cary Teen's Death Probed

Posted March 14, 2008

— Police on Friday were investigating the death of a Cary teen who might have killed himself thinking he had accidentally shot a friend moments before.

Justin Armond Monaco, 18, and three friends were in an apartment early Wednesday when Monaco started firing a revolver, police said. He didn't hit anybody, but might have thought he did, police said.

Monaco suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at WakeMed in Cary, police said.

Police were awaiting the results of an autopsy before deciding whether to rule his death a suicide.

Gun control because someone recklessly used a firearm? People recklessly use automobiles everyday. Turn you car in now! It's for the children!

Why did he have a gun in the first place? This is all to strange. Reading posts all day about citizens having guns to protect themselves (in light of the UNC and DUKE murders) and to me this speaks volumes as to why gun control is needed and not just giving permits to everyone. How horrible for this family. I wonder what huge chunk of this story we will never know. Sitting around an apartment randomly firing off a gun?? Is this what kids do for fun now? Lord help us all

Where's the rest of the story here? Lots of obvious unanswered questions.

What happened there? That is bizarre! Why would he be firing inside an apartment anyway. There's something very strange here.

Thoughts and prayers going out to him and his family...
