Cary police report rash of copper wire thefts

— Cary police have received nine reports in the past 24 hours of copper being stolen from heating and air-conditioning units at homes under construction in the Stonewater Subdivision.

Police remind residents to report any suspicious activity or persons near construction sites after 7 p.m. to 919-469-4324

    I swear, some people to to so much effort to make money illegally (stealing copper wire and selling it for scrap makes you a few bucks at most), you'd think it would be easier to just work part-time at McDonalds.

    I know a CPD officer that should investigate this! Not like they have anything else to investigate other than going to the pumps and to the PD.

    I thought the price of scrap copper had gone way down the past 6 months or so.
