— A senior officer in the Cary Police Department resigned her job after an arrest early Thursday on charges she was driving while impaired.

Tiffany Dawn Silsbee, of 2600 Broad Oaks Place in Raleigh, sideswiped four vehicles along Raleigh's Boylan Avenue, according to police.

After the crash, she had a .09 blood alcohol content.

A Town of Cary spokesperson said Silsbee resigned from the force after her arrest.

edriscoll23: "A drink and being drunk are two different things. Sure I've had a glass of wine with a meal here and there but I never had a whole bottle then drove home."

She could have gotten a 0.09 BAC from 2 or 3 drinks in an hour. It takes less than you think.

I had someone make a left turn into my car in cary one day and officer Silsbee was the officer that responded. she was professional, fair, and compassionate as she gave me a lift from the intersection and stayed with me until my family showed up. I would consider her a good cop and it saddens me to see that she made such a terrible decision and I am glad no one was hurt. it does not surprise me to see that she is taking it seriously, realizes that this impedes her ability to perform her job currently and is taking on this "punishment." I hope she makes better choices and is able to make amends.

For all of you yelling "Cary coverup" you DID read that the accident happened in Raleigh? Therefore she would have been arrested in Raleigh?

"True... but she will probably not make that mistake anymore. "

We do not know that. Regardless, as an officer of the law, she broke a law that she had sworn to uphold. And making "mistakes" is different than a conscious decision to drive drunk! It's not an "accident" or "mistake," it's a CHOICE.

Boylan is a street you can sideswipe cars without a drink.

I think she was only charged when the media found out about it ... because initially she wasn't. She was just going to squeak out of all of it. Gosh usually there are cops screaming on stuff like this blaming WRAL for posting it and being cop haters etc ... where are you guys?
