Police: Several leads, no arrests in Cary bank robbery

At around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, police said, a man robbed First Citizens Bank at 1825 Kildaire Farm Road. Less than a half hour earlier, police got a call from bank employees at Fidelity Bank, 2416 SW Cary Parkway, who spotted a masked man walking toward the front door. They pushed a button locking the doors, and the man left the property on a bicycle, police said.

At First Citizens, Cary police Capt. Don Hamilton said, a masked man jumped over the bank counter and started grabbing money before running out the door.

That’s when someone briefly chased the robber, causing him to drop a “substantial amount” of money, Hamilton said. The man got into a green Chevy Z-71 truck, which police believe was carrying the bicycle, and fled.

The man was last seen wearing a bandana, sunglasses, a gray hooded sweatshirt with stripes on the arm and gloves.
