Cary police investigate alleged sex abuse of teen

Posted March 26, 2010

— Cary police are investigating allegations of repeated sexual abuse against a teenage girl, according to search warrants.

The warrants say that the victim told police that a man has sexually assaulted her several times a week since she was in fifth grade and that some of the incidents were recorded. Her teacher called police after the girl told her about the most recent rape.

Police searched a home in a neighborhood off Norwell Road a week ago. They seized condoms, hard drives, DVDs, VHS tapes and other digital media storage devices, according to the warrants.

The girl said she had been afraid to tell people because the man behaves violently when he's angry, the warrant says. She had recently told her brother and boyfriend.

Police have not filed charges.

I will not be surprised when we find out what's on his hard drive. This is sad, however when I think of the child molestation that goes unreported I'm glad that this man will be tried.

"She should have reported this man instead of continuelly hanging around him. May this person get his just and she receive some serious counseling." - wildcat

The girl may have not been able to NOT hang around him--what if he is a family member, close family friend or neighbor? It said he was violent when angry...that must have been awful and so scary for her. I do hope she gets the counseling she needs to help her. It took one of my old college roommates several years AWAY from home before she felt she could open up and tell anyone what had been happening (sexual abuse) IN her home for years (the hint here is a family member was the abuser).

wild cat..have you ever been raped? That is not something easy to report......like the article said, he was abusive when he gets anger and i can imagine a teenage girl would be scared

Why rape? Why a teenage girl under 18? Why can't some just keep it in their pants anyway? There are other ways to fill the need. Rape is not the answer!!

STRONGER RAPE LAWS! That's all we need... stop giving them three years in jail and then probation... RAPE should equal life in prison or a death sentence. Period.

How sad, one can take the story about a poor girl who was abused and will likely never recover from it (ask any rape/molestation victem how they are doing), and turn it into a way to make a jab at a local community. So sad.

If there is any chance that the identity of the teen would be revealed by giving the name and address of the accused, then that information needs to be withheld.

If he is guilty of this, I hope they lock him away for the rest of his life! He stole the childhood of that girl and he deserves to pay dearly!

"This plan will only effect people making more than $200k a year, who tan and who have obscenely profitable savings accounts."

They were "daily" before, but only recently have they been given the attention they deserve from law enforcement.
