— Cary police are pursuing juvenile charges against a 12-year-old boy suspected of exposing himself to a woman on the Black Creek Greenway Tuesday night.

The woman reported the incident to police, then saw the same boy Thursday night and called authorities. Police said the boy was on the trail Thursday, but he was not doing anything wrong when they approached him.

"does everything have to be handled by the police....doesn't the kid have a dad and a mom."

Apparently most parents call the police to use them as a intimidation tool which is NOT why the police are there...how are the cops going to change your kids in 5 minutes when you haven't been able to fix the problem in years? No one understands how many "hats" officers wear...stop calling the cops to be a parent for YOUR kid...step up and grow up and be the adult for once..

What a brat. I know kids will be kids and boys will be boys but there is no way a 12 year old didn't know this was wrong. Tsk.

"does everything have to be handled by the police....doesn't the kid have a dad and a mom."

Where were mom and dad while he was flashing people? He broke the law, and at such a young age, I'd be scared his behavior would escalate to bigger and badder things. Better he get arrested now to learn a lesson, and get some counseling.

Puberty hit him hard...including the loss of modesty, which is a pretty strongly taught taboo in our society. IF he can learn a positive lesson from this, then OK.

Did they actually take this child into custody and to a secured facility or did they petition the juvenile justice authorities to pursue this in court and release him to his parents. Police cannot "arrest" a 12 year old though they can take him into custody and request secure custody.

He does need the seat of his pants warmed, spanking is becoming a lost art. He also needs some counseling if he thinks that is a funny thing to do. What's next for this young man, touching and grabbing little girls??

  • rednek May 17, 2013

Just where were dad and mom? At 12 years old they should have at least known where he was and possibly the person doing this after the first report and put a stop to it. Warming the seat of his pants would most likely have stopped this.
