Cary plans Hot Chocolate 5K next weekend

Posted December 30, 2013

Photo by: Kimberly Lindner. I woke up early to find snow falling, so the first thing I did was make myself some hot chocolate

This event pairs two of my very favorite things - hot chocolate and running.

Cary's Hot Chocolate 5K might be a fun way to launch a healthier 2014. It's Sunday at Fred G. Bond Metro Park, 801 High House Rd., in Cary. You can choose from the Big Mug 5K, Little Cup 1-mile Fun Run and the Doggie Dash.

The event raises money for the Wake County SPCA. Dog owners are welcome to bring their pets to participate for a $5 fee (all dog fees will be donated to the SPCA).

Registration is $17 until Jan. 1 when it increases to $22. The fee gets you a keepsake ceramic mug, hot chocolate and treats for the four-legged friends.

Click here for details and to register. Sounds like a fun event for families with two and four-legged members!
