CARY, N.C. —  A Cary man was sentenced Wednesday to more than 12 years in prison on child pornography charges.

Jeffrey Torian Phelps, 41, of 101 Northwoods Village, was arrested in October 2009 after an eight-month investigation by the Cary Police Department’s cybercrimes unit.

Phelps was later indicted on 21 federal charges.

Phelps recently reached a plea agreement, the details of which were sealed by a federal judge.

Upon his release from jail, Phelps will be under supervised release for life. He has also been ordered to pay thousands of dollars in fines and restitution.
