—  A Cary man was sentenced Wednesday to more than 12 years in prison on child pornography charges.

Jeffrey Torian Phelps, 41, of 101 Northwoods Village, was arrested in October 2009 after an eight-month investigation by the Cary Police Department’s cybercrimes unit.

Phelps was later indicted on 21 federal charges.

Phelps recently reached a plea agreement, the details of which were sealed by a federal judge.

Upon his release from jail, Phelps will be under supervised release for life. He has also been ordered to pay thousands of dollars in fines and restitution.

Prisons have a better code of ethics than the community? What kind of statement is that? If their morals are so high, why are they in prison?

SUPERVISED for life. WOW. May not sound like much, but that's heavy stuff. He'll pay dearly in prison when they find out what he did. Prisoners have a better code of ethics that our community. They hate crimes against children.

    Twelve years - not enough.

The trauma from this lasts a child for a lifetime. The perps should receive the very same sentence.

    God bless.

No surprise that the usual GoLo haters have chosen to take what should be good news -- another creep off the streets -- and turn it into a lame opportunity to bash Cary. Get lives, would you?

Cary what is happening to your city?? We are seeing more and more bad headlines from your so called "Better living enviroment" town. I guess you should put up signs at the city limits "Welcome to Cary the new Durham".

Maybe the records ware sealed because he agreed to a plea deal for a lesser amount of time for turning in other pornographers. Law enforcement wouldn't want all of that information made available.

"How is it that this pervert isn't in prison? Sealed records? REMEMBER THAT FACE everyone. I know I will." - HonestAbe

    He is:
"A Cary man was sentenced Wednesday to more than 12 years in prison on child pornography charges."

I am sure he will be quite popular once he arrives...
