— A Wake County jury found a Cary man not guilty last month of animal abuse charges filed against him more than a year ago.

Charles Becker, of Sturdivant Drive, was tried in October on five counts of torturing and tormenting animals by depriving them of necessary medical care. The jury found him not guilty on all charges.

Becker had asserted his innocence since the time of his arrest, telling WRAL News that accusations by a neighbor had been blown out of proportion.

Nosy , meddling neighbors people should learn to mind their own business

Watch the first video (when the owner was charged) -- it's his neighbor, Jack Keller, wanting his 15 minutes of fame.

This appears to be a neighborhood feud -- and Mr. Keller used our resources -- and our money -- to torture his neighbor.

I, for one, would like the police to arrest Mr. Keller for abusing the public interest. If we're going to charge homeowners for false alarms, then this guys should be charged for all the hours wasted by Cary police, animal control, the Wake County DA, and our court employees.

WRAL was irresponsible in the way they reported the original story. The red flag that this was a bit of yellow journalism was at the end when animal control filed 5 counts of cruelty even though there were 40 animals -- and that no animals were confiscated.
I wonder why this even went to trial. Regardless of WRAL's opening introduction script, it's obvious that there was no "torture."

I once saw a cockroach running from a Terminix truck. Must have been full of crumbs. Infested obviously.

"No doubt. Probably some middle-aged woman with empty nest syndrome. The ridiculous part is that he had to spend a ton of money defending himself.

He should of just put the animals down.
    Timbo"

Most of the time I think you just post to see what kind of reaction you can get. This time you got your sexist comment and your anti-animal comment. Too bad you couldn't find a way to blame some minority, since you like to allude to them quite often, too.

The jury has spoken, I don't have to agree with it. But, he does need to clean up his house and yard !!!!! and don't give me "Cary standards" stuff. That place is NASTY. I called the town of Cary when a RAT ran out in front of my car from that house. It is not safe for human or animal and the property values just love it.
