— Police on Tuesday charged a 30-year-old Cary man after they say he stabbed a woman and held her hostage inside an apartment Sunday morning.

Jason Greenlee, 30, of Ribbon Lane, faces one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of first-degree kidnapping in the assault. His relationship to the victim, Stephanie Cary, is not clear, but police are calling the crime a domestic assault.

Greenlee was being held Wednesday at the Wake County jail on a $3 million bond.

Police said Greenlee took Cary hostage inside an apartment at 105 Ribbon Lane around 5:45 a.m. Sunday. He released her children and sister-in-law, who were unharmed. Cary, who suffered serious stabbing wounds, was let out some time later and taken to WakeMed.

Greenlee barricaded himself in the apartment and was eventually taken into custody shortly before 9 a.m., police said. He was treated for self-inflicted injuries at a local hospital and then released into police custody Tuesday.

It's very odd that people comment about the low crime rate in Cary. Isn't that why you move from crime infested areas. Crime exists in every town and city in this country. It alls depends on how much the city does to protect it's citizens. Living in South Florida there are many places that you are not even safe with police presence around. And remember that every time there are articles and news reports about the safety or quality of life in the triangle it's not just the everyday hard working individuals that are moving here.

Bad people are in every city and are free to roam into other cities to commit crimes. Unfortunately, these days, all you can do is protect yourself and your family and hope you never need to use it.

"The Town of Cary is one of the most dangerous towns in all of NC. Citizens are peppered with violent criminals and perverts. Take a good look in the mirror and do something about it! Quit turning your head"

Not sure where you live "Its the who what" but all cities/towns have issues and Cary which has there own is probably way down on the list as one of the most dangerous towns/cities in North Carolina. Try living in areas like Washington, DC., Baltimore, MD areas like that. Then you will see what violent criminals and perverts are like. Yes, Raleigh and Durham have there share but Cary.... come on

Unfortunately the problem is not the cities - the problem with with the people living in the cities.
